Multi million pound redevelopment for
Kirkstall Forge will create more than 1,00 jobs
Commercial Estates Group is to hold a series of
weekly surgeries to allow people to see its plans for the Kirkstall Forge
site in the city.
It is the latest stage in a public consultation process that has been
carried out over the last 18 months.
The company's planning application for the 22.4 hectare forge site,
currently being considered by Leeds City Council, envisages a mixed use
development including 1,385 homes together with community facilities
including shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and a creche.
More than half the site will be kept as "green space" which the developers
say will allow for woodland walks, bicycle routes and community access to
the historic area.
The redevelopment of the 400-year-old industrial site is expected to create
more than 1,500 permanent jobs and up to 400 construction jobs.
A riverside hotel is planned, plus 177,800 sq ft of offices and support
facilities.
